Many years ago, when John Benzais was writing his book "The Best of Benzais" he showed me what he considered the best trick in the book, "Bewilderment."  In this trick, the aces apparently flip out from the center of the deck as it is cut. The trick instantly became one of my favorites.

Occasionally during "Bewilderment", the ace got trapped where the deck had been false cut and projected from the center of the deck.  This occurred because the right first finger that spun off the card didn't release it.  Instead of the card spinning out onto the table, it would shift from the top of the deck to the center where the apparent cut was being made. It was from this beginning that all of the material in SECTION 1, "THE CENTER FLIP", was developed.

There are two other contributors, Chip Walker and James Holmes, who independently developed material based on "Bewilderment".  Their excellent material is also included in SECTION 1.

SECTION 2, "A DIFFERENT DIRECTION", is a group of tricks that I have developed through the years that have nothing to do with the main theme of the book.

I owe a special "Thank you" to Charles Scott for editing the book.  He tried his best to remove my futile attempts at humor, but since I was also the typist....

As with the other books I've written, once started, it was a lot of fun.  I hope you have as much fun reading it.
