As a firm believer in comedy-by-situation magic, this routine is offered as an ideal example of this type magic.  Present day performers are not looked upon as "miracle" workers, but instead are thought of as being skillful with their hands and indulging in enough prevarication to make their skillful moves interesting.  This particular routine takes full advantage of that general belief and makes the most of it...although he may not realize it, a spectator is most pleased when things work out as he believes they should, when the other fellow slips up a little and when he, the spectator gets FOOLED! In this effect you fool them but when you start to "brag" a little your trick goes haywire and you give yourself away.  Then when you go to explain yourself, your "Skillful" hands get you out of difficulty and you fool them more than ever!
