Effect #1: A card is freely selected and returned to the deck. Twelve cards are taken from the deck and placed face down on the table, forming a clock pattern. The performer tells the audience that he's going to have "A Seance with Houdini." A knife and a shoelace with a bead are introduced to the spectator. A lariat is made around the knife by sliding the bead down to it. The knife is balanced and the shoelace twisted and the ends held by the performer's thumb and first finger. Calling on the spirit of "Houdini", the knife is released. It spins like a propellar, first one way, then stopping and spinning the opposite way. The knife finally comes to a stop, the blade stopping and pointing at a card. Let us see if the spirit of "Houdini" found the card. The spectator turns it over, revealing this to be, the selected card.
Effect #2: This effect is the same as above, however, instead of a clock formation, the cards are ribbon spread in a half circle. the ends of the shoelace are held by the performer and the knife spins and end's up pointing at the selected card.
Effect #3: As in Effect #1 the cards are laid out in a clock formation. The remaining cards in the center. The "Divination Revelation" stops, the card is revealed to be the wrong card, The "Five of Hearts." The performer state's that this has never happened before. "Wait," says the performer as he counts off five cards of the remaining cards in the center and the fifth card is the spectator's selected card.
