A black strip is inserted into a case and secured with a fastener. The black strip is unquestionably locked in place. The magician calls attention to the fact that the strip can not be removed without removing the fastener.

Even so, at the performers command, the black strip visibly penetrates the red case. It seems to magically melt through the fastener.

No sleight of hand required! The spectator can examine all the props before and after the trick.
