Books on magic by professional conjurers are rare, and especially scarce are works on original tricks explained by performers with the long experience and high reputation of which Stanley Collins can boast.  Having spent more than forty-five years as a professional entertainer, Mr. Collins presents in A Conjur Melange more than fifty tricks which he either originated or improved so extensively as to convert them into virtually new feats.

Trick with cards, coins, and handkerchiefs, pocket tricks, mental tricks, miscellaneous tricks, tricks for children, a stage illusion, and even several conjuring puzzles go to make up this magical feat. Two features of the book are worthy of special mention - the tricks are all genuinely workable (indeed, have been performed by Mr. Collins himself some hundreds or thousands of times), and the explanations are so clearly detailed and illustrated that the reader can readily make these feats his own.  Here are truly practicable lessons in conjuring by a practical expert

The illustrations were drawn, under the personal supervision of Mr. Collins, by Alba, a well-known English artist who has had long experience in illustrating works on magic.  The format the progess of the book through press and bindery, and also wrote the Introduction and prepared the Index.
