FOREWORD

It has been six years since I met Hector Robinson at the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. It was there where Hector and I began to talk about his father, who performed as Chung Ling Soo. Hector and I worked together to formulate a brief presentation of his father's life. The first idea included recollections by Hector (who was eight years old when his father passed away), plus the information that he had been gathering since his youth. The book was completed and was published by Hades Publications in 1987. They called the book Chung Ling Soo - The Man Behind The Legend!

Little did Hector or I know at the time that we were opening a locked door of information from the past. Nor did we realize that the request for more detailed information about Hector's father would be requested by fellow magicians. 

The early newspaper stories, photos and unpublished information included in this book would not have been possible without Hector's personal records of his father's life. 

I would like to enter this gathering of occurences, never-seen photos and documented material from 1900 to 1920 of this amazing man, Chung Ling Soo.
